About the event

Harry and Sandy will both give talks on the connections between creative practice and gardening, before we bring their perspectives together in conversation, and as always, audience questions and comments will be very welcome!

Harry not only explores gardening as creative practice through his role as Head Gardener at Charleston, the gathering place of the famously multidisciplinary Bloomsbury Group - he is also a talented writer in his own right. Sandy is an artist working in a variety of media, whose practice draws on how pattern and landscape inform each other and can be interpreted as a comment on the world that we live in. She also runs Black Shed Studios, teaching courses and workshops in the heart of the Ashdown Forest.

King John’s Nursery and Garden is the most beautiful place, so do come early to go exploring before we start: there are the eight acres of stunning romantic gardens to see, a beautifully styled rustic café, a shop crammed full of interesting and eclectic things and of course the nursery itself. And as ever this is also just a chance to meet and chat with fellow YPS members in a wonderful horticultural setting!

Our mission is to aid the dissemination of propagation knowledge through the generations; to encourage more young horticulturalists into propagation and nursery roles; and to inspire learning of all areas of the natural world. We want everyone to be able to access these events and as such, tickets to this event (including access to the gardens!) are free
